Online Format Self Study Course. Geriatric Health Promotion - Lecture Series

This lecture series provides practical geriatric health promotion information for health care and social service professionals. The goal is to assist providers in developing and enhancing health promotion interventions to prevent disease and postpone further disabiity. Lectures cover an array of topics and were recorded during live telecasts from the University of Washington Health Sciences Center to clinical settings in the Pacific Northwest. Each module includes a lecture (videostream), self-assessment post-test, and evaluation. To earn contact hours (1.5 per module), complete the post-test (you may take it as many times as needed to achieve the required score of 80%) and submit the online evaluation. You may print a certificate at any time that includes all the modules completed to date.

Comments from students:

  • The program has given me a vast amount of information and resources in a method that makes learning quite easy.
  • This is a great program for a busy adult family home owner. It was easy to do!
  • The curriculum was well-organized and easily read. The length of each module is just right--not too short or too long.
  • This is an excellent way to pick up CE credit. The information is useful not only in my own contacts with older adults, but is useful to pass on to caregivers and nursing home staff.
  • I am using the modules extensively now, especially when counseling older adults in my work. Your modules gave me a lot of insight and ideas for dealing with health issues of the elderly. Thank you for having this program.
Registration Information: This series is updated annually. All lectures in the series at the time you register will be posted in your CE Tracker. Any new lectures added to the series after you register will require separate registration. Lectures in your CE Tracker may be completed in whatever sequence you choose. UWCNE recommends completing online courses within 6 months. However, because of the extensive number of lectures in this series, the completion period is extended to 12 months. After 12 months, lectures will remain in your CE Tracker but indefinite access is not guaranteed.

Washington State Residential Care Council (WSRCC) Members: You are eligible for a discounted WSRCC member registration fee. To obtain the member discount, choose WSRCC as your affiliation during the registration process. Core Curriculum: Some lectures in the series are designated as Core Curriculum as a reminder to WSRCC members who are interested in specialty licensure.
