Online Format Self Study Course. Routine HIV Screening in Health Care Settings

Logo of Northwest AIDS Education Training Center Recommendations for routine HIV screening in health care settings were issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in 2006. This course presents the rational for routine HIV screening, current CDC screening recommendations, and strategies for implementing the recommendations in health care settings. Topics in the course include HI epidemiology, the rationale for routine HIV screening, CDC HIV screening recommendations, potential barriers to screening, diagnostic tests for HIV and approaches to counseling and linking persons newly diagnosed with HIV to care. Teaching methods include viewing of topic-related modules (with audio) and interactive self-assessment questions.
