Designed For: Nurses, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, and other interested health care professionals in all settings including acute, ambulatory, home health, hospice, long-term, rehabilitation, and transitional care.

Wound management is a dynamic practice arena in health care today. Wounds present complex challenges as well as pivotal opportunities for improving the health status of patients. This conference addresses current regulatory and professional practice issues, evidence-based strategies for assessing acute and chronic wounds, and interventions to achieve successful outcomes. Teaching methods include lecture, discussion, demonstration and case studies.

    Topics on Day 1 include:
  • a national perspective on pressure ulcer prevention
  • elements of a successful pressure ulcer program
  • care of wound and skin issues for severely obese patients
  • trends and treatment of pelvic osteomyelitis
  • the connection between diabetes and wound healing
    Topics on Day 2 include:
  • differentiating lower extremity ulcers
  • wound bed preparation
  • compression modalities in chronic wound care
  • identifying atypical wounds
  • management of the diabetic foot
  • strategies for finding evidence on the web to improve wound care
