Pamela DeKeyser
MSN, ANP
Pam has been an Adult Nurse Practitioner since 1993. She earned her BSN in 1987 at the University of Michigan, and her MSN in 1992 from the University of California, San Francisco. She has worked as an ANP at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, providing care to a population that has complex medical needs as well as socioeconomic challenges. Currently she provides primary and follow-up care for adult patients who have been recently hospitalized or seen in the ED until they are able to be seen by their PCP. In addition, she participates in a program that focuses on improving chronic disease care, and is a member of several hospital committees.
Pam has served as a mentor for adult, women’s health and family nurse practitioner students since 1997, for a total of over 2500 hours. Despite the challenges, she very much enjoys precepting students. She feels their energy and enthusiasm are contagious, and their questions and discussions stimulating. Being a mentor makes her more aware of her own practice, as she strives to model best practice for the student. She also feels strongly about the importance of giving back to the profession, and remembers how important her preceptors were to her.
When not working, Pam enjoys reading and traveling, and spending
time with her husband and three children, including watching
many soccer games.
